IAI Academy

The Institute of Art and Ideas (IAI) serves as a vibrant hub for the exploration of philosophical ideas and discourse aimed at challenging prevailing notions and fostering a dynamic intellectual culture. Established in 2008, the IAI embarked on a mission to bring philosophical discussions out of the confines of technical debate and into the realm of big ideas central to societal and cultural narratives. Driven by the belief that philosophy and big ideas are crucial for understanding and navigating the complexities of the modern world, the IAI places an emphasis on dissecting current accepted wisdom to uncover alternative, progressive ways of perceiving the world.

Over the years, the IAI has morphed into a multifaceted institution, offering a plethora of platforms for engagement including festivals, online platforms, a podcast series, and an online philosophy magazine. One of its notable endeavors, the HowTheLightGetsIn festival, rapidly burgeoned into a significant event, boasting 360 events over ten days by 2011. The IAI’s virtual footprint has also expanded with the launch of IAI.tv and IAI News, providing a space for intellectual discourse and learning. Especially noteworthy is the adaptation during the Covid pandemic, where IAI transitioned into virtual reality platforms to continue its mission of facilitating philosophical and cultural discussions. Through these diverse avenues, the IAI continues to contribute to the intellectual enrichment of society, stimulating critical thinking and the examination of ideas foundational to our world.
