Course Description

The ACT Module: Acceptance and Commitment Theory in Ketamine- and Non-Ordinary States of Consciousness-Assisted Psychotherapies course offers a half-day introduction to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and its applicability in therapies involving non-ordinary states of consciousness (NOSC).

The course demonstrates how ACT, which has gained significant attention and has been employed in numerous clinical studies, including those at Yale University and London Imperial College, can serve as an ideal framework for preparing, guiding, and integrating psychedelic experiences. The presentation spans four hours and encompasses lectures, clinical vignettes, mindfulness exercises, and small group discussions to help participants grasp the relevance and application of ACT in NOSC-assisted therapies.

Designed to cater to both healthcare professionals and the general public, this module allows healthcare practitioners to integrate the tools and practices discussed into their services to benefit their clients or patients. The course delves into the psychological flexibility model and its six components: acceptance, defusion, present moment awareness, self-as-context, values, and committed action. Additionally, participants will understand how ACT concepts are mirrored in psychedelic experiences and learn to apply ACT tools efficiently to prepare and integrate psychedelic experiences.
